The Problem:
Tweeted articles are more successfully disseminated, with a wider reach, and more citations than non tweeted ones, as shown by Luc et al in 2021. Every academic, educator and researcher should be utilizing social media, but many don’t even know where to begin.

Often, many feel reluctant, worried they will tweet incorrectly; others are concerned they will say the wrong thing or come across as being self-promoting. In reality, you have content expertise and information to share, why wouldn’t you join the online conversation?

Social media for healthcare education is exponentially growing. It’s time you connect online with colleagues, trainees, patients and other experts around the globe.

Our Approach:
This workshop will help you understand how to effectively use social media for healthcare dissemination, with a focus on Twitter. You will get familiar with the basics of tweeting and examine the common barriers and advantages to social media use. It will provide practical tips on how to maximize your productivity online, and how to find the time to engage in your already busy lives. It will also introduce you to website and video creation to further build an online presence.

Instructional Methods:
This 45-minute interactive workshop will involve real time tweeting, feedback and discussion. Participants should have a Twitter account. It will introduce you to software to create websites and videos to further grow your social presence, disseminate research, and join the conversation.Â
